Buyer's Guide for Underwater Fishing Cameras

Like most of the tools in your fishing box, not all of them are fit for the same purpose. The same is to be said for underwater fishing cameras. Some are designed to be attached to your line, others are to be put into the water separately, or in the case of fishing drones, to glide along completely independent.

However, there are some common features that need to be considered when buying any underwater fishing camera.

Image Quality

It’s rather pointless going to the trouble of bringing a camera along if all you can see is merk and gloom. Just having a decent resolution on your camera is not enough for use in underwater environments.

You should make sure that your unit has enough led lighting, and preferably night vision. This may sound rather an overkill but its essential as your quarry may not be hiding in plain sight.

Waterproof housing

This may sound like a no brainer, but make sure that the display and the camera are both waterproof. Not only this but ensure that their application is for salt water if you want to be using the camera in the sea.

Camera design

Its very important that the camera is unobtrusive and not going to frighten off your quarry. If your camera looks out of place, there will be no fish for you to capture and you will have wasted your time and money.
